My heartiest welcome to the official website of Lilong Haoreibi College, Thoubal District, Manipur, India. As we all are well aware, drastic changes have been brought to the teaching learning processes in the higher educational institutions nationwide with the latest discoveries of science and technology and, Lilong Haoreibi College is not an exception in this regard.
Established in the year 1976 with a beautiful campus occupying about 16.78 acres of land, the college is located alongside the Indo-Myanmar Highway about 15 kilometres south east from Imphal, the capital city of Manipur. With an average enrolment of about 2,000 students belonging to the socio-economically and educationally backward minority Muslim community, the College has the pride for having produced many toppers in the examinations conducted by the Manipur University.
I feel proud to mention that the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, on considering the feasibilities of support from the Ministry of Minority Affairs to the only college located at the minority dominated area in the valley, has taken up initiatives for development of wall fencing, approach roads, multipurpose hall and vehicle shed on top priority. The Hon’ble MLA of the Constituency has also taken up works for beautification of the water body lying in front of the academic and administrative block.
The College has been preparing for accreditation and assessment under NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Assessment and Accreditation, Bangalore this year. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been developed as per requirement under NAAC and a dedicated team of faculties are working round the clock with support from all teaching faculties and staff. In a significant up gradation of the traditional teaching learning system, Six (6) classrooms have been developed into smart classrooms with the installation of hi-tech interactive digital smart boards. The system of mentors and mentees has been adopted from this academic session to enhance the teacher-student contacts throughout the academic calendar. The Alumni Association has also been strengthened from this year and their engagement in the development of the college has been improved.
A Leased Line internet connection of 12 MBPS bandwidth along with the extension of Wi-Fi facilities to all the academic blocks, and Library automation system with the N-LIST INFLIBNET facilities have been developed for accessing e-resources leading to engagement in research and development activities other than teaching learning processes by the faculty as well as students. Apart from the on-going biotech projects under DST, some specifically focused area based minor research projects have also been undertaken with support from the State Minorities Commission.
Apart from the BA/BSc courses in 16 departments, the College has also been approved under the University Grants Commission for conducting skill based job oriented B Voc. degree courses in 5 specialized subject disciplines namely Agriculture, IT/ITes, Tourism & Hospitality, Yoga & Naturopathy, Physical Education & Sports. In addition to this, Diploma in Food Processing and Certificate course in Jam, Jelly and Pickle making have also been offered under the RUSA vocational programmes. Grievance Redressal Committee, Women’s Development Committee, Boys & Girls Hostel facilities, Eco club, Biotech hub, Career Counselling Committee, NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross unit, Canteen, Mini stadium, etc. are also developed for providing quality and competency of the students.
